Preparing for the 2010 Science Framework (Up to 1.8 CEUs/15 SEMIs)

The 2010 Mississippi Science Framework is presently being piloted in schools across Mississippi. Teachers will gather during the summer for two intense days of professional development on the new framework with a follow-up day during the fall. The workshops will cover a review of 2010 Science Framework, with Mississippi teachers leading hands-on strategies using the constructivist model, field activities at local industries and museums, and a review of online resources. Middle and High School teachers will have their own workshop series designed especially for them. Grades 5-8 teachers will receive training on all four content strands. Emphasis across the disciplines of science will also be the target for High School teachers.

A separate one-day session on the Science Framework will be held in the fall.
